Truly inspiring…. As the universe would have it, I’m working on black background paintings..and was moved by what Sharon had done as a community organizer, also something I do. Thanks Kandace for the support to all of us! I would encourage Sharon to accept the “mistake” on her one painting…as Bob Ross says, “There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.” Put some more of the “wrong” black intentionally? Otherwise, whenever you look at the piece, it’s not good… and, I love your father’s advice. I did know of the custom of one bead being off and it saved me when I was beading… the same in quilting as in African lore, a crooked seam or different pattern made it safe from spirits entering… such a relief not to make things that look like they came from a machine… it’s the human hand that speaks best.
